One Direction & Justin Bieber Album Release Showdown Set for November 13?

The release of "Made In the A.M." and Bieber's next full-length could land on the same day.

Is an epic One Direction vs. Justin Bieber showdown brewing for mid-November?
On Tuesday (Sept. 22), One Direction announced that its fifth studio album, Made In the A.M.will be released worldwide on Nov. 13. The best-selling boy band’s first full-length without Zayn Malik has been preceded by the top 5 hit “Drag Me Down,” and will be followed by a hiatus of unknown length.
One Direction’s previous four studio albums — Up All Night, Take Me Home, Midnight Memories and Four — have all debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart upon release. Surely Made In the A.M. is on track for another No. 1, right? Well, a new Justin Bieber album might complicate things.
Bieber — who has five No. 1 albums of his own — has a new album due out this fall, and sources told Billboard last month that the release date was… you guessed it… November 13. Team Bieber has never refuted that rumored date, but it has yet to officially announce it either. So Bieber’s next album, which will include the Top 10 hits “Where Are U Now” and “What Do You Mean?,” could theoretically have its release date shifted before or after Nov. 13. (A rep for Bieber did not immediately respond to request for comment).

Pop Drop Drake Knocks Justin Bieber Off Number 1 After 23 Days "What Do You Mean" Struggles At Radio

Justin Bieber– August 28th must seem like a dream to him now. That’s when he released “What Do You Mean,” a pretty bad pop single constructed by producers Diplo and Skrillex. But with clever social marketing and an appearance on the VMAs, Bieber managed to keep “What Do You Mean?” at number 1 on iTunes until…yesterday.
Summer, you see, is over. And so is “What Do You Mean?” It’s been replaced by Drake’s “Hot Line Bling.” The Bieber single spilled to number 9 briefly yesterday but has since rebounded to number 2. Are fans stuffing the ballot box, so to speak? I guess you can buy as many digital copies as you like. In the old days, this would have been boxes of actual singles. This is so much tidier.
But the real story of “What Do You Mean?” is more evident at radio, where it’s struggled. After 23 days, the single is at number 8 on Mediabase’s Top 40 radio chart. It’s up 8.8% from last week, but far behind Selena Gomez’s number 1 song, “Good For You.” Of course there’s a big irony there since Bieber and Gomez were once a romantic pair.
“What Do You Mean?” has probably peaked, although you never know: the right incentive could still push it to the top. The fact is, just turn on a radio. The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” and Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph”, as well as all Taylor Swift, are ubiquitous. Want to hear “What Do You Mean?” You’ve got to wait a while.
Bieber’s album hits stores November 13th. Then we’ll see what shape he’s in, saleswise.

Diplo reveals how he advised Justin Bieber on his new album

Diplo was a major force in Justin Bieber’s recent critical success, as “Where R U Now,” their collaboration with Skrillex raced to the top of the charts. Bieber’s forthcoming album is set to debut in November, and Diplo now says that he played a role in helping Bieber find his new sound.
EW caught up with him at the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas this weekend, and asked if he was involved with Bieber’s new project. “I just listened to his music, advised and made adjustments to new songs,” Diplo said. “I helped with the overall feel of the sound that we started with Jack U and raced a lot of ioHawks in the studio.”
The album will feature “Where R U Now” and his latest single “What Do You Mean?” which recently topped the Billboard Hot 100, making Bieber the youngest male artist to debut at No. 1. Earlier this summer, a source told EW, “There’s some personal stuff and some ballads [on the album]. There’s some spoken-word moments with him literally talking about what he’s going through in his life. It’s all about theexperience of being Justin Bieber.”

Justin Bieber's 'What Do You Mean' Stays On Top Down Under

Justin Bieber has extended his winning streak in Australia, where his comeback single "What Do You Mean" is on top of the national sales chart for a third week.
The Canadian pop singer’s new song has held off the challenge of the latest releases from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ("Downtown") and Taylor Swift("Wildest Dreams") to continue his stay at the top.
It's Bieber’s longest stint at No. 1 on an ARIA chart. Though "What Do You Mean" is his first track to lead the ARIA Singles Chart, he enjoyed life at the summit of the ARIA Albums Chart for two weeks back in May 2010 with his album My World 2.0.
Meanwhile, it's an all-new top three on the ARIA Albums chart, led by Bring Me The Horizon's fifth studio album That’s The Spirit. The British metalcore band has made it three straight following the chart-topping successes of There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen ItThere Is A Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret from October 2010 and and Sempiternal from April 2013.
Brisbane singer-songwriter Jarryd JamesThirty One is new at No. 2 while veteran metal band Slayer’s 11th album Repentless  starts at No. 3. It’s Slayer’s highest-ever peak on the ARIA Albums Chart, eclipsing the No. 9 efforts of their two previous efforts, Christ Illusion (from 2006) and World Painted Blood (from 2009).
